Often, instead of repairing a damaged instrument, insurance companies replace it under the owner’s insurance cover. When this decision has been made, it is usually not economical for insurance companies to have these damaged instruments repaired and sold. In this situation, if Music Services donates the repair free of charge, an insurance company will come to the party and release any salvage value of the instrument. This results in a very generous giveaway for the lucky recipient. We are incredibly grateful to the insurance companies who choose to give back to the community in this way.
Five entrants were selected by Music Services and Lantern Insurance and went on to the second round of the competition. The five selected entrants then provided a short video up to five minutes of themselves performing on flute.
Theses entries were judged by Bridget Douglas, Principal Flute and Kirstin Eade, Associate Pricipal Flute for the NZSO. The prize was a reconditioned B-Foot Muramatsu GX flute fully serviced by Music Services (New Zealand RRP$10,995.00), and free freight to the winner.
